When my family and I were invited out to the new HEB restaurant, Oaks Crossing, we were interested to see what this famous grocery chain’s interpretation would be.

To start with, the decor is simple and clean but warm. On top of an open kitchen dining room and bar area there’s an outdoor patio complete with a “stage” for live music and green space for your minis to run around on.

The menu offers a wide variety, from their house special 13 hour smoked meats, to tacos, burgers, pizzas, pastas + a kids menu.  After ordering from a cashier, much like at a fast food place, you can sit and relax as you wait for your food to be delivered to you.  We chose the charcuterie plate (simply 3 offerings of salami’s) a cheese plate (yummy varieties, mini man and I ate the whole thing) beef & brie sliders (hubby said they were great) fish & chips tacos (a little on the plain side) and a kids brisket sandwich (mini monster ate it all & hubby said the brisket was smoked wonderfully).

Oaks Crossing seems to be establishing itself as more than just a pit stop to grab a snack before or after your grocery shopping trip, offering things like happy hour bar and food specials, tv’s inside and out (I heard they were packed for the World Cup) live music every Friday and Saturday and even Sunday brunch.
