If you follow me on instagram then you might already know that I was able to sneak away from the minis last night to attend a pre-opening dinner at Grayze, one of SA’s most-anticipated new restaurants. Officially set to open on the 11th, this little red-doored house may not look like much from the outside but step in and you can expect a fabulous lunch and dinner menu (still being finalized) weekday happy hour from 3-7 and weekend brunch starting February 1st.

Read on for the first peek into what their menu will offer and my recommendations on what to order.

No full menu for you to browse through yet, but the cliffnotes version includes things like a 4-cheese mac, roasted cauliflower, blackened red fish po’boy, and bacon and beef meatloaf. I definitely recommend the cheeks n’ buns (mini barbacoa sliders) and the kiss my grits (shrimp & grits with pickled mustard greens). If you’re not big on syrup-y sweet desserts, then skip the mousse burgers (profiteroles with peanut butter mousse and caramel) or ask for them without the caramel; one bite was all I could handle.

I don’t think San Antonio will be disappointed with this one. I’ll be heading back to take in the full menu. The confit chicken banh mi is calling my name.
